GUANGZHOU, China (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019) – The Official Draw Ceremony of the Qualifiers for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 took place at a star-studded event in Guangzhou, China on Sunday, May 7th.
The ceremony consisted of four different draws, one for each region – Africa, Americas, Asia (which includes Oceania) and Europe.
European Qualifiers are the 24 teams which competed in the FIBA EuroBasket 2017 and 8 additional teams which qualified through the European Pre-Qualifiers this summer.
European Qualifier are:
Group A: Montenegro, Slovenia, X1, Spain
Group B: X2, Turkey, Latvia, Ukraine
Group C: Poland, X3, Lithuania, Hungary
Group D: Italy, X4, Croatia, Romania
Group E: X5, Belgium, France, Russia
Group F: X6, Chez Republic, Iceland, Finland
Group G: Germany, Serbia, X7, Georgia
Group H: Israel, United Kingdom, Greece, X8
Bulgaria’s men’s basketball team is also participating in the pre-qualifying stage and has a chance to play in the real qualifiers. Our team is in a group with Belarus and Portugal and the matches are from 2 to 16 August this year.
Starting in November, the 80 national sides will play home and away games across six qualifying windows spanning a 15-month period to be among the 31 joining hosts China in lining out at the first-ever 32 team edition of FIBA’s flagship event.
Attending The Official Draw Ceremony of the Qualifiers were representatives of FIBA, International Olympic Committee, Chinese Basketball Association andf FIBA Partners: Beijing Enterprises Group, Molten, Nike, Tencent and Wanda.
